This polycarbonate is designed for stadium roofs

| By Chemical Engineering

The newly launched Lexan Thermoclear polycarbonate sheets are ultra stiff and are designed for architectural application such as modern stadium roofs. The new material allows improved safety, durability and design freedom for architects, the company says. The material’s low weight reduces transportation costs and enables easier handling and installation. Capable of withstanding wind and snow loading pressures of up to 2,200 N/m2 (equivalent to wind speeds of 125 mph), the sheets offer up to 250 times the impact resistance of glass. — Sabic Innovative Plastics, Pittsfield, Mass.
