Tokuyama and OCI form JV for polycrystalline silicon products

| By Mary Bailey

Tokuyama Corp. (Tokyo) announced the establishment of  a joint venture (JV) company with OCI TerraSus, a Malaysian subsidiary of the OCI Group (Seoul, South Korea), for the production and sale of semiconductor-grade polycrystalline silicon semi-finished products in Malaysia, to be called OCI Tokuyama Semiconductor Materials Sdn. Bhd. (OTSM). This follows the initial announcement made on December 13, 2023.

In anticipation of growing future demand for semiconductors, Tokuyama has been working to build a production and supply system for semiconductor-grade polycrystalline silicon using clean energy. OTSM, established jointly with OCI TerraSus, will be responsible for the production and sales of polycrystalline silicon semi-finished products for semiconductors.
