Topsøe contracts the world’s largest ammonia plant

Haldor Topsøe A/S (Lyngby, Denmark; www.topsoe.com) will supply ammonia synthesis technology for the world’s largest ammonia plant. The plant will produce more than 3,500 tonnes of ammonia per day. Topsøe has signed a contract for the supply of ammonia synthesis technology for Perdaman Chemicals and Fertilizers. The ammonia synthesis loop will be part of the Collie Urea Project located in Western Australia, which will transform coal into 6,200 tons of urea per day. The plant will have a single-line capacity of more than 3,500 tonnes ammonia per day and will thus be the world’s largest ammonia plant. “We are very committed to this project, and we are very pleased to supply our ammonia synthesis technology. It is an honor that we — with our extensive ammonia technology experience — will supply ammonia synthesis technology for the world’s largest ammonia plant,” says Jørgen Gøl, vice president, Syngas, Technology Division.
