| By Mary Bailey

Trelleborg Group AB (Trelleborg, Sweden), through its business area Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, announced the development of its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, a greenfield investment that increases production capacity by 30%.

The facility campus spans 50,000 square meters/540,000 square feet and is scheduled for completion in 2027. It brings together comprehensive manufacturing capabilities, R&D with extensive testing facilities, application engineering support, the Customer Solutions Center, supply chain center and global IT services under one roof for the first time.

Trelleborg established its first manufacturing facility in Bengaluru in 2005, serving both local and global customers with high‑performance sealing solutions. Over the past two decades, the company has delivered consistent and sustained growth, underpinned by robust engineering support, a strong focus on localization, increasing market demand, close customer proximity and India’s strategic role in global supply chains.

The 30,000 square meter/323,000 square feet of buildings brings together advanced manufacturing capabilities spanning polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) products, rotary shaft seals, mechanical face seals, polyurethane (PU) & other sealing solutions serving various industries worldwide. The new facility positions the company as one of the few multinational players capable of manufacturing a broad and diverse product portfolio locally for both Indian and global markets.

The dedicated Research & Development Center is designed to provide rapid, high‑quality support to our customers. The state‑of‑the‑art hub features a fully equipped materials laboratory as well as a testing & technology laboratory, enabling advanced material and product testing, in-depth analysis and the implementation of development projects aligned with our strategic objectives.

Designed to meet global performance and compliance requirements, the facility will operate under internationally recognized certifications including AS/EN 9100, IATF 16949, ISO 9001,  ISO 14001 and ISO45001. It will cater to key industries such as aerospace, agriculture, automotive, construction, fluid power, industrial automation, oil, gas & energy, railways and semiconductors.

The campus is developed to set new benchmarks in lowering environmental impact, safety and energy efficiency, and the investment will generate hundreds of job opportunities, foster regional economic development and build future‑ready manufacturing expertise.

India’s Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, Shri M.B. Patil, conveyed his best wishes to the India management team, stating: “I extend my best wishes for the successful completion of this milestone event. The Government of Karnataka, through its progressive industrial policies, efficient administrative support and strong commitment to fostering a business‑friendly environment, has consistently supported the industry fraternity – including the engineered polymer solutions sector – and will continue to do so in the years ahead.”

Leading the ceremony were Jürgen Bosch, Business Area President of Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, and KJ Tan, President – Operations Asia Pacific. They were joined by the Indian leadership team, including Managing Director Raghavendra Nagaragadde and General Manager Vinay Balakrishnan, reaffirming the company’s strategic commitment to the region.

Jürgen Bosch, President, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, said: “This project marks an important step forward for Trelleborg Sealing Solutions. With the new Bengaluru facility, we are finally bringing our teams together under one roof at a single, unified site.

“Designed to strengthen collaboration and cross‑functional teamwork, this facility is more than a consolidation; it reflects our ambition to operate as one – aligned, connected and focused on how we serve our customers. It is a journey shaped by the people with us today and built for those who will join us tomorrow.

“The new facility will strengthen our presence in industrial and automotive, and support our strategic entry into aerospace in India. With everything centralized, we are better positioned to accelerate innovation and serve customers locally and globally.”
