Turbine health

By Chemical Engineering |

Emerson Process Management (St. Louis, Mo.; edlinks.chemengonline.com/5825-547) has introduced CSI 4500 Machinery Health Monitor application that provides live, continuous monitoring of turbines during transient conditions. A component of the company’s PlantWeb digital plant architecture, the new application provides information necessary to prevent catastrophic failure. Data can be viewed alive at the time of the event during turbine startup and shutdown and other transient operations in which problems are most likely to occur. CSI 4500 is complementary to the AMS Suite, Equipment Performance Monitor, which monitors the efficiency of the same turbomachinery.
