A fluidized-bed dryer that is ideal for sensitive products

| By Chemical Engineering

A vibrating fluidized-bed dryer from this company features multiple temperature-control zones that operate independently to permit a variety of different heating and cooling levels in the same continuous-drying system. The unit is ideal for gently drying grains, cereals, dry foods, pharmaceutical powders and other sensitive or delicate products. The dryer allows substantial moisture removal at a relatively high temperature in the first heating zone, while gradually lowering temperatures in each successive heating zone to achieve the final desired moisture content. With this dryer, product degradation — including charring and discoloration — is reduced, the company says, and the particle structure remains intact, while product waste is virtually eliminated. The unit’s proprietary design enables users to achieve more drying capacity than other dryers with a single temperature throughout the process. — The Witte Co., Washington, N.J.
