A membrane system with a small footprint

| By Chemical Engineering

The TARGA II HF, a new hollow-fiber ultrafiltration system, features an optimized cartridge and rack arrangement that results in one of the smallest-footprint products currently available. TARGA II HF fibers are ideally suited to meet drinking water requirements and provide 4-log virus removal, the company says. The filter elements are based on a PES (polyethersulfone) membrane that is suitable for a number of ultrafiltration applications, including drinking water, seawater pretreatment, industrial water treatment and tertiary wastewater treatment. Among the keys to the technology are intelligent process controls that can handle variations in water quality and flow with minimal operator intervention, reduced chemical use and less energy consumption. — Koch Membrane Systems Inc., Wilmington, Mass.
