Maglev pumps for contaminant-free vacuum
This company has developed a new series of magnetically levitated (maglev) turbomolecular pumps, known as the nEXTM series, that is suitable for both industrial environments and research and development activities. The oil-free nEXT2807M and nEXT3207M Maglev pumps are specially designed for areas where a contamination-free vacuum is required for high process quality. The virtually maintenance-free models (up to 80,000 hours, the company says) are among the lightest and most space-saving turbopumps in their class. Their robustness makes them best suited for a wide range of applications for the use in the R&D and industrial markets; including various coating applications, vacuum ovens, thermal vacuum chambers for space applications and high-energy physics applications. With efficient water cooling and excellent pumping speed — up to 3,200 L/s for the larger nEXT3207M and up to 2,500 L/s (nitrogen) for the smaller nEXT2807M version — the nEXT M pump series is ideal for processes that require minimal vibrations and no hydrocarbons, the company says. The pumps feature reduced rotor weight, which decreases power consumption, especially in the start-stop phases, and can be mounted in any orientation. — Edwards Vacuum, West Sussex, U.K.
