Syensqo and Memsift collaborating on membrane technologies for water applications

| By Mary Bailey

Syensqo Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. and Memsift Innovations Pte. Ltd. announced the signing of a Binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the evaluation, development, and potential commercialization of next-generation membrane technologies for industrial water treatment, water reuse, and resource recovery applications.

The collaboration brings together Syensqo’s expertise in advanced, high-performance membrane materials and hollow fiber technologies, with Memsift’s proprietary membrane engineering capabilities and its HEXAGON™ Technology Platform for circular water infrastructure.

The collaboration will focus on developing enhanced membrane architectures capable of supporting demanding industrial applications, including wastewater recycling, ultra-pure water production, resource recovery, concentration of industrial process streams, and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) operations across high-value industries, including pharmaceuticals, microelectronics and semiconductor manufacturing, AI and data center infrastructure, mining and metals processing, specialty chemicals, and pulp & paper production.

As industries worldwide face increasing pressure to reduce water consumption, lower carbon emissions, recover valuable resources, and improve environmental performance, membrane technologies are becoming a critical enabler of sustainable industrial operations.

The collaboration aligns with Memsift’s vision of enabling circular manufacturing through its HEXAGON™ Technology Platform, an integrated technology architecture designed to close the industrial water loop by converting wastewater into reusable water, ultra-pure water, and recoverable resources.

Dr. J. Antony Prince, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Memsift Innovations, said: “Advanced membrane materials are the foundation of the next generation of water and resource recovery technologies. This collaboration with Syensqo brings together complementary strengths in material science, membrane engineering, and industrial application development. By combining Syensqo’s expertise in advanced polymers and hollow fiber technologies with Memsift’s innovation in separation science and circular water infrastructure, we see tremendous opportunities to create new membrane solutions capable of delivering higher performance, greater resilience, and stronger sustainability outcomes for industries worldwide.”

Mr Floryan De Campo, Market VP Life Solutions of Syensqo commented: “Innovation in membrane materials is essential to addressing global challenges related to water scarcity, resource efficiency, and industrial sustainability. We are pleased to collaborate with Memsift to explore new opportunities for applying advanced polymer and hollow fiber technologies within emerging water treatment and resource recovery applications.”
