Two functions in one flow transmitter

| By Chemical Engineering

The new Type 8022 flow transmitter and pulse divider combines the functions of the company’s 8021 pulse divider and its 8023 flow transmitter into a single device. This electronic module can display and further process the flow measured by the sensors of type 8020, 8030 or 8070. The compact device can save space by being mounted directly on top of the sensor, where it converts the pulses from the sensor into standard signals for further processing by, for example, a control system. When operated as a flow transmitter, the frequency signal from the sensor (with a resolution of about 10 bits) is converted into a 4–20-mA signal (two-wire operation). When operated as a pulse divider, the 8022 converts the input frequency to an adjustable output frequency between 1 and 600 Hz (three-wire operation). With the control unit, the user can quickly change between the two operating modes. — Bürkert Fluid Control Systems, Ingelfingen, Germany
